With 30+ Years of Cardiovascular Research Experience, Leading Global CRO Supports the Fight Against Heart-Related Illnesses – On Giving Tuesday and Every Day
Research Triangle Park, N.C. – November 30, 2021 –Worldwide Clinical Trials, Inc. (Worldwide), the industry’s leading global, midsize, full-service contract research organization (CRO), has announced that its President and CEO Peter Benton has been named American Heart Association’s 2022 Triangle Heart Ball Chair.
As Triangle Heart Ball Chair, Benton will oversee a volunteer team of Raleigh, N.C.-area business leaders and changemakers to meet the event fundraising goal of $1.1 million in support of research and educational programs in North Carolina and across the country that combat the United States’ No. 1 and No. 5 killers – heart disease and stroke.
With more than three decades of experience in cardiovascular research, Worldwide is on the forefront of evaluating novel treatment strategies to prevent and treat cardiovascular disease. The organization has extensive global trial experience in all phases of cardiovascular research – leading some of the industry’s largest international studies with more than 26,000 patients in a single trial. Under Benton’s leadership, Worldwide is also driving clinical research into women’s health – the theme of this year’s Triangle Heart Ball.
“Women are still underrepresented in research studies where prevalence data would suggest that females are disproportionately affected. At Worldwide, we are committed to changing this. For example, we have partnered with biotech and pharmaceutical sponsor companies that target disease indications that predominantly impact women,” shared Benton. “Worldwide is invested in AHA’s mission to bring health equity to all, and we are dedicated to driving gender – and all around – equality in clinical research to ensure safe and effective treatments for everyone.”
In support of women’s health and the battle against heart-related illnesses, Worldwide is the Signature Platform Sponsor of AHA’s 2022 Triangle Heart Ball and is encouraging its employees to consider contributing and spreading awareness for Giving Tuesday, an annual global day of giving that encourages people to do good.
“Worldwide cultivates cardiovascular success stories one patient – and one study – at a time,” said Benton. “And the focus on women’s health is close to my heart. I am lucky to have strong female leadership in my life – in addition to leading an organization that is 72 percent female, I have an incredible mother, two daughters, three sisters, and six aunts, all whose health and wellbeing are very important to me. I am honored to serve as the 2022 Triangle Heart Ball Chair and encourage everyone to show their support – today on Giving Tuesday and beyond.”
The 2022 Triangle Heart Ball is scheduled for Friday, 11 March 2022 at the Raleigh Convention Center in Raleigh, N.C. To learn more about the Triangle Heart Ball or to donate, visit: http://triangleheartball.heart.org.
