Akbar Jaffer
Director, Project Management, Real-World Evidence
With more than 20 years in the clinical research industry, Akbar Jaffer has a heart for the patient’s lived experience. His work with both biopharmaceutical and contract research organizations has given him an appreciation of the importance of research for patients with unmet clinical needs. As Director of Evidence Project Management for Worldwide Clinical Trials in the United Kingdom, he brings his understanding of real-world applications of therapeutic products to the design and execution of clinical studies.

ABOUT AKBAR JAFFER
Akbar Jaffer is Director of Evidence Project Management, based in the United Kingdom. Through his early experiences in data management and accounts management in the clinical research industry, he gained a strong appreciation of the value of clinical research to improve healthcare for patients beyond the laboratory setting. He has served as a clinical research associate (CRA) and subsequently managed clinical trials across all phases of study in Europe and globally. His experience includes work in such therapeutic areas as rheumatology, dermatology, nephrology, oncology, respiratory, cardiovascular, and infectious diseases, as well as medical device trials and non-interventional studies. He has been engaged in transformational and innovative initiatives, most notably the transition of Continuum Clinical LLC to the Worldwide Evidence™ business unit in 2018. He works closely with Worldwide’s sponsor partners while providing oversight to project teams, leading internal initiatives to identify and implement enhancements in efficiency and quality of our services.
His early work with SmithKline Beecham, Chiltern, Johnson & Johnson, and Amgen enabled him to gain expertise in the operational and commercial aspects surrounding pharmaceutical development. He holds a Bachelor of Science in process biotechnology and a Diploma in Chemical Engineering (DipEng) from University of Teeside in the U.K., as well as a Master of Science in biomedical sciences from the University of Bradford, also in the U.K.
